What are Flybuys points worth?

Anywhere from 0.25c–2c a point, depending on what you redeem them on. These are the three most common ways.

The short answer

How much is a Flybuys point worth?

Half a cent, most of the time. Every 2,000 points takes $10 off your shop at Coles and other participating Flybuys partners, a fixed 0.5c a point, so a Flybuys point has a guaranteed floor. You can only beat it by converting to Velocity and flying, which returns 1c–2c per Flybuys point in business. Rewards Store products usually return less, at 0.3c–0.5c.

Money off your shop

2,000 points = $10 off in store at Coles and participating Flybuys partners, with your card. Always 0.5c a point: the simplest use, and the benchmark for everything else.

Flybuys gift cards

0.5c a point: 10,000 points buys a $50 gift card. The same value as money off, just taken in one go.

Rewards Store products

0.3c–0.5c a point. Usually below the money off, so only worth it for something you'd otherwise pay full price for.

Convert to Velocity

1,000 Flybuys points become 500 Velocity Points. Used on economy Reward Seats that's 0.5c–1c per Flybuys point; on gift cards it's 0.25c–0.28c, a loss. See the break-even below before you convert.

Save for later

Choose Save for later as your rewards preference in the Flybuys app to bank points instead of redeeming them. They stay safe as long as you collect or redeem at least once every 12 months.

Converting

Should you convert Flybuys to Velocity?

The break-even is 1c

Flybuys and Everyday Rewards both convert 2:1. Give up $10 off, get 1,000 airline points — so converting only wins if you'll get more than 1c out of each Velocity or Qantas Point.

Flights clear it

Economy reward seats typically return 1c–2.6c a point, business far more. If you'll actually fly with them, converting can beat the $10 off — by a long way in a premium cabin.

Gift cards don't

Airline gift cards and stores return 0.4c–0.56c a point. Convert just to buy a gift card and you've roughly halved what your points were worth. Take the $10 off instead.

It's one-way

Neither transfer can be reversed. If you're not sure you'll fly, leave the points where they are — you can always convert later, but you can't convert back.

Points value questions

How much is one Flybuys point worth?

Between 0.25c and 2c, depending on what you redeem it on: 1c–2c in Velocity business class, 0.5c–1c on Velocity economy flights, 0.5c off your shop, 0.5c as Flybuys gift cards, 0.3c–0.5c in Rewards Store products, 0.25c–0.28c as Velocity gift cards.

Do Flybuys points expire?

Not as long as you collect or redeem points at least once every 12 months. After that the account can go inactive and the points can expire.

Where can I use Flybuys points as money off?

In store at Coles and other participating Flybuys partners, with your card: every 2,000 points takes $10 off.

How do I work out what my Flybuys points are worth?

Multiply your balance by the cents-per-point of the thing you would actually redeem on. That last part is what most calculators skip: Flybuys points are worth anywhere from 0.25c to 2c each depending on the redemption, so a single average is misleading. The calculator above runs every route at once.

Should I convert Flybuys to Velocity?

Only if you'll spend the Velocity Points on flights. The transfer is 2:1, so 2,000 points is either $10 off or 1,000 Velocity Points — converting only wins if you get more than 1c per Velocity Point. Economy reward seats (1c–2c) usually clear that; gift cards (0.5c–0.56c) never do, so converting to buy gift cards roughly halves your points' value. Transfers can't be reversed.

Where these numbers come from. Only some redemptions have a published rate: Flybuys and Everyday Rewards money off, Flybuys gift cards and Bank for Christmas are all 2,000 points = $10. Both airline transfers are 2:1, per each program's own help pages. Everything else — Flybuys Rewards Store products, and anything spent through Qantas or Velocity — has no fixed rate, so those ranges come from independent 2026 valuations.
